Information Today Holiday Book Sale

Hello Everyone.

I just wanted to let you know that we are having a book sale that’s going on now until Monday, January 7, 2013. We are offering a 33% discount on our already discounted web order book prices. The discount is good on an unlimited number of orders placed on our website for any of the following:

I’m sure you’ll be able to find something that you want to get for yourself…. oh, wait. I meant to say I’m sure you can find something for a friend or family member–after all it is better to give than receive.

When you check out at our online store, use the promo code ITIFW12. Don’t forget that we are also offering free standard shipping on all web orders shipped within the continental United States.

Thanks for reading and I’ll see you in a few weeks.

Open Source Issues and Trends at Internet Librarian 2012

At Internet Librarian, I gave a talk with Marshall Breeding about the Issues and Trends in Open Source. As systems librarians, it’s important that we keep up with any tech issues and trends that effect our libraries, and I of course feel that open source is one of the biggies right now.

That said, Marshall focused on the library numbers, trends and issues so I stayed a bit more general and covered topics from the business and government world. I’m of the opinion that sometimes we pay too much attention to what’s going on in our own little world and not enough to what’s going on around us, so hopefully the info I collected will be of help to some of you.

Here are my slides.
